What is the latest in the treatment of autism, and success rates?
This week (Apr. 14—2010), a girl got
lost in a FLA. swamp & was found alive.
She was described as having “autism-like” symptoms. That news story led to this question.
Heard this on the radio yesterday—

they work with autism patients, and others with different developmental
conditions.

The treatment of autism is never just one sided. It takes the help of medications, therapy, dietary monitoring, communication therapy and possibly behaviorists for someone to function in todays society. Medications include Antidepressants (SSRI’s) and Benzodiazipines, basically to calm someone with autism so they can focus. I would suggest reading this

On my last visit with an autism doctor that recovers children, I asked him about what percentage he gets into regular school, even if still dependent upon supplements. He said 75%. I think most autism doctors have less recovery rates than this. I talked to a famous herbalist who deals with autism, and he said he has gotten 200 into managed recovery, in that they can do regular school but still need supplements towards digestion, infections, and toxins. Apparently, getting a child to not depend upon any treatments any more is quite rare, or rather relapse rates are high. My children are all recovered, but still depend upon treatments.
there are many treatments out there for example the Gluten Free Casein Free diet, ABA Therapy, Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy and the list goes and on and on. None of these are guaranteed to cure a child with autism but they might help.
Better to prevent it, than treat it, as this groundbreaking book suggests:
I know of MANY fully recovered children–but most have had extensive heavy metal chelation to remove the mercury from their bodies and central nervous systems.
