Law and Order Criminal Intent had an episode that focused on a man with Aspergers. It was a very good example. Rather than typing it all up, here’s a link that answers your questions:
That’s the page on adult aspergers. You may want to read the pages before and look around. Lots of into.

Asperger’s syndrome is characterised by trouble with social interaction, as they may experience difficulties in basic elements of social interaction, which may include a failure to develop friendships or to seek shared enjoyments or achievements with others, also people with aspergers often display behavior, interests, and activities that are restricted and repetitive and are sometimes abnormally intense or focused. They may stick to inflexible routines, move in stereotyped and repetitive ways, or preoccupy themselves with parts of objects. they could also have trouble talking.

The essential features of Aspergers Disorder are severe and sustained impairment in social interaction and the development of restricted, repetitive patterns of behavior, interest, and activity. The disturbance must have clinically significant impairment in social, occupational, and other important areas of functioning. In contrast to Autistic Disorder, there are no clinically significant delays in language. In addition there are no clinically significant delays in cognitive development or in the development of age-appropriate self-help skills, adaptive behavior, and curiosity about the environment in childhood.
