McCain mentioned that Sarah Palin knows a lot about autism. Can someone explain?
Has one of her kids been diagnosed with autism. I was only aware of the infant with Down Syndrome.

I’ve just been reading a lot about it and I’m curious.
Thanks!
i have heard a lot about giving children who have autism fish oil. does anyone else do this? can you provide me with details on the type of oil you use, the brand and such. the behaviors before giving the fish oil, and the changes in behaviors after?
ive been thinking of starting my 3 year old son on fish oil, but i am a bit leary. any thoughts or advice is appreciated.
I have been worried about my now 6-month-old step-grandson since he was just a couple of weeks old. He has always been difficult to engage – vacant gaze, no eye contact, no smiling or laughing, and he cries when someone persists at trying to engage with him. Now that his behavior is a more volitional he moves his head to avoid eye contact, especially when he is being held. He scans his environment but shows more interest in objects than in people. At 6 months old he is not babbling. I am the mother of 2 children (19 & 22), I am an Occupational Therapist, and I also have a degree in Psychology so I have some life experience and some education in childhood development – but it has been years since I spent a lot of time with a baby and this is a specialized and sensitive subject. I thought I might be overreacting but now my 19-year-old daughter independently came to the same conclusion. His parents have not expressed any concern, at least to us. What should I do?
A good friend of mine is having a small party for her son and I am not sure what is appropriate for the boy. Although I have met him on a few occations (his younger sister and my son play), I have never spent any time with him so I do not understand the Autism. Any gift suggestions would be great as this family means a lot to me.
I think its because of the all the druggies in the 60s and 70s them having kids and because of all the drugs in their system its causing their kids to have autism. Kids around 10-15 it seems i never see older people with austism but I’m not sure and I wanted to know really badly what other people know and think.
I have a speech to give regarding the history of autism in public schools. I have found a lot of information about disabilities in general (IDEA of 1997, ect) but I really need autism-specific information. I’m looking for documented cases of the first school districts to allow autistic students, the students’ names if available. If anyone can refer me to a website or a book, I’d appreciate it so much!
