my daughter was two and a half when she was fist diagnosed with autism. I always told her there was something wrong i just couldn’t figure it out until i took her to the regional center to get tested. Now i am concern because she often gets constipated and her doctor keeps telling me she is fine i need to find a new and good doctor for her. I live in highland park which is in los angeles california 90042. does anyone know of a good pediatrician?

In short, could someone please tell me what autism is and why there are so many kids that are being diagnosed with this disorder? Is it just an answer doctors give because they don’t have any idea what is wrong…..

I just don’t get it and what the difference in stages are…I’m starting to believe its just a lie…kind of like every other diagnosis these days.

Has anyone had experience with LEAP (Learning Experiences – An Alternative Program? It is for Preschoolers and Parents. It teaches very young children with autism alongside children without Autism spectrum disorders.

The other children are trained to help each child with an autism spectrum disorder meet individually designed objectives.

If you have experience with this program can you tell me more about it? If you are a parent of a child with Autism or a parent of a child without Autism, can you tell me your thoughts of your child in a program like this?

I’m doing some medical research on autism in babies and children up to 2/3years, and i wondered what kind of doctor would specialize in diagnosing this in children, and what kind of tests they would generally run. I initially thought neurologists, but I’m still not really sure.

Is it also possible that there could be a physical cause for autism, such as something to do with the brain or anything like that?

I am just curious whether autism is a global issue, or just an issue in countries where children get immunizations. Are there studies? On the Today Show, doctors were claiming that autism just surfaces around the same time children are immunized. Wouldn’t this be easy to prove by assessing the rates of autism in children of underdeveloped nations (who haven’t been immunized)?
