autism isnt actually related to the mothers age…its just something that unfortunately happens to the baby (child)..
you do hear of older mothers having children with autism but it does happen when a young mother has a child also..
i had my daughters when i was 19 and 22..
lets just say that theyre adults as we speak (not revealing my age lol)

They say that for women that are 40+ there is a 30% chance of having a child with autism. Of course, they also say that it’s genetic.

No. I’m 36 and pregnant with my second baby. Everything is fine. I had my first at 34 and she was perfect too!
the incidence of down’s syndrome increases wtih the mother’s age but it is still rare.

I think there may be a slightly higher risk, i know 4 mothers who had their first child at over 40 and all have healthy happy children.

There is no scientific link between maternal age and autism. However, research has discovered that men over 40 are six times more likely to father an autistic child than younger men:
I am 43, and I have a perfectly healthy 14 month-old baby boy. I also have an 8 year-old with autism, and my husband was 31 when he was born.
Autism is a disorder with a genetic link (which they just haven’t pinpointed yet because it may involve a multitude of vulnerable genes) and a environmental trigger. Your best bet to avoid having a child with autism is to educate yourself as much as possible on the suspected environmental triggers and do what is within your power to restrict exposure to them. (Start with researching what foods you should limit or avoid during pregnancy). With our 14 month-old, since he most likely has the vulnerable genes (or predisposition), we’ve made a lot of changes in our house…everything from greening our cleaning products to eating organic, not using chemical fertilizers in our garden and following an alternative vaccination schedule.
