Do they tell you the outcome on the same day?
He functions well and understands commands but he just finds it difficult to pronounce words. He will be three in a month, I just started him with a speech therapist. I don’t want him lagbehind because I waited to long. What should I do?
My 23 month old has been diagnosed with autism and I was told to apply for DDD. Does anyone know what DDD is? I am in the process of reading through many folders of information I have been given, but I am just wondering exactly what it is.
My son is 3 and a half & was recently diagnosed with mild autism. Developmentally is a year behind in his speech & comprehension development. He still has difficulty answering “yes & no” questions & obviously he talks like a child who is just learning to talk. His answers & comments seem as if they are robotic & that he is not really thinking about what he is saying. It is a few months before his next doctors appointment & I know he will start various types of therapy. My question is what can I do in the meantime to help him with his language & communication skills? I have flash cards, & am aware of the “obvious” things you typically do to teach children. But I feel that I need some fresh ideas, because he doesn’t learn like other children due to his autistic disorder.
My two year old is getting evaluated for autism and I want to know what to expect. He is already in speech therapy. His speech therapist said she sees no signs of autism but I still want him tested no matter what anyone says.
What I mean by “no matter what’ is everyone one I know including his speech therapist says “no way” he has autism. He had no symptoms that I read about but I just want “piece of mind”
My three year old nephew is a pretty regular kid. He can tlk but he doessnt understand things and usually ends up repeating you but he is very smart in many ways. My other relatives say it could be autism. How do you knnow for sure?
My husband has autism in his family. I have heard it could be genetic. My daughter is 7 mo. old and does some odd things…
1. she shakes her head (as if to say “no”) She has done this since she was 3 months and now does it to imitate us.
2. she has days where she will not respond to us. We will say her name several times and she will not look up (btw..she knows her name usually) Once she finally looks up, she doesn’t smile. She just glances at us, then goes back to whatever she’s doing.
3. I’m not complaining by any means, but she is an unusually good baby. She has only actually CRIED about 5 times. Otherwise, she whines or “talks” in a whiney voice.
I have not contacted a doctor because until a few days ago, I just thought she was quirky (like her daddy LOL). Please let me know what you think. I would love the opinions from experienced moms.
We’ve seen a change in behavior in our 40 month old son. He started to throw fits, playing less, talking less (he has hours when he just mh’s instead of talking, he has a very good vocabulary), he started to wet (also bowl movement) in again (not at night), and he can cry forever. When we ask him why he wet his pants ( being in the bathrom) the answer is I didn’t know how to walk to the toilet.
Firt we thought the change in his behavior was caused by the arrival of his Baby brother in Nov last year, but his behavior is getting worse. We’ve seen our Family doctor and started with blood work just to make sure that he is ok. Is there any way to exclude autism? Please excuse my screwed up english I’m german…
I think my 3 1/2yr old daughter may have Autism. Since birth, she’s always been a little distorted when it comes to emotions and speaking. But with her being so young, what kind of tests could be done accurately to help her be diagnosed/or not with this??
