and what’s the difference between people with autism and normal people in adulthood?
I know that was a weird way to ask, but I was trying to keep the question short. I’m trying to compile a small list of commonly used PECS symbols (boardmaker symbols, whatever) to creat a small book for myself, to keep in my files of ideas to work with children with autism and other disabilities. I’m striving to be a teacher in this field and am collecting whatever I can learn right now, through work and the internet, and was wondering if anyone knew where a list of common symbols are. Thanks!
Would getting a doctorate be superior or make not much difference considering a majority of people in the field hold Master’s degrees? What kind of Master’s degrees are typically held for people in the field? (Im currently studying psychology) Also, any idea about academic programs? Which are better (specifically in the New York area)? Thank you!!!
What I’m interested in is whether any intervention has yet been shown to improve the quality of life for those with autism. By that, I mean, which methods are shown to produce meaningful friendships, independent living as an adult, marriage, employment, etc.
How do you become an Autism Specialist? That is what I would love to do, and work towards a behaviorialist. Any suggestions as to HOW I can get there?
I need some help and suggestions. For 6 year old boy that I look after. But the hard thing is he is really scard of crows! Even just the sound of them makes him anxious. I look after him for 3 hrs twice a week, I do take him to swimming lessons one day and the rest of the time I’ve taken him to the shops. He likes going for a drive, looking at things, especially picture books. Music seems to calm him down and being inside a building makes him happy. So far I’ve found…
I have to write a lit review for my Human growth class and my topic is Autism. Im completely lost so if anyone can help me that wouldbe great.
thanks
I cant think of his name but I saw a series on him. Someone asked what was such a page of the Great Gatsby and he summed up the page they stated. He was kinda fat and had glasses. I know this is not the greatest explanation in the world but throw out some names.
I would like answers with links to studies if possible. Thanks!
I have been talking to care staff that work with an autistic man, who is siad to be getting worse autistically.
The mans mother claims that in the past, he was able to ride a bike, go out for walks, run, play and so on when he was a child.
However, his mother claims that it is because he is on medication today and that this is why his behaviour has got worse with time.
She would like him to come off medication.
His dose of medication has been reduced, but not much of a behaviour difference has been observed by the staff.
As I understand it, AS and Autistic disorder remains unchanged in its magniture through out life. But there are variables that can make its effects more or less noticable, such as adolescence and becoming an adult.
In many cases, as such people grow to become adults, I hear reports of a decline in such behaviour.
Can this condition become more or less severe in terms of brain structural damage?
If so, why?
