I know there are some autistic people out there that don’t difficulty in learning. I have moderate autism and a learning disability, so I just want to know how usual it is for autistic people to have a learning disability?
Is there any link between autism and learning disability?
If you have autism, do you have a learning disability? If your children has autism, do they have a learning disability and how well can they learn?
For those of you that don’t know, the autism waiver is a social program that provides autistic children with the therapeutic services that they need. The number of children that can be helped is limited due to “lack of funding”. In many parts of the U.S., there are many autistic children who do not receive waiver services. When will this finally change? Politicians are quick to spend money on the war on terror, israel, darfur, etc. But what about America? Have they forgotten that there are also Americans who are in desperate need of help?
Do you know of any oppurtunities for research in genetics or autism that I could apply for over the summer? I live in New York (long island), and any science research internships or programs that you know about would be great. Thanks! =)

Autism typically shows up just before age two… I was just wondering if anybody personally knows anyone of the non-vaccinating crowd who has an autistic child who was not vaccinated? Or know of a website that discusses this subject? Any studies done?
I am going to college to become a teacher, so I applied for a paraprofessional position at an elemenatry school. I was hired, and it turns out that the job is child specific, for a boy with autism. I will be helping him throughout the day at his special, learning support class, lunch, recess, etc. It seems like something I will be able to handle, but I need some pointers on working with autism. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!!
Is there something else in it that has been linked to autism? I heard something about vaccine-induced measles virus being found in the brain and intestines of a 9 year-old autistic boy.
I only want answers from people who know why MMR is attributed to autism, not from people who deny it. That’s not because I don’t want to listen to reason. It’s just that I know that side already and am just interested in why MMR is linked to autism when it never had thimerisol.
I know I can’t count on the regular paced carriculum ex: expect my child to learn to cout to 100, count by 2s, learn days of the week, etc… What should I expect this year?
Can doctors test for autism? Do they just go by the signs or what? Do anyone have any experience in an autistic child? I really need some information here. Can you please help me out?
