He functions well and understands commands but he just finds it difficult to pronounce words. He will be three in a month, I just started him with a speech therapist. I don’t want him lagbehind because I waited to long. What should I do?
I know for a fact that birth defects like deafness, blindness, congenital heart and down syndrome are causes of german measles, chicken pox, high fever, asthma or mother conceiving babies in their old age and etc… but what causes autism and attention deficits? can they be acquired or really inborn?
My 23 month old has been diagnosed with autism and I was told to apply for DDD. Does anyone know what DDD is? I am in the process of reading through many folders of information I have been given, but I am just wondering exactly what it is.
It could be a book about the life of an autistic person, of therapies, of causes, or anything. I just want to read something informative and intelligent, not slanderous or with an agenda.
Is there a kind of therapist that works with these type of people? Im not talking about a typical psychologist. (From what I’ve heard, all they do is basically prescribe drugs and do surgery). What I want to do is more like a sort of hands-on, involved approach. I know I must sound kind of vague, but what kind of doctor does that, and how do I become one?
There are many websites about autism but I am looking for a forum to connect with other parents raising children with autism. I have come across a few forums but they are not very active.
